Santillana,jugador profesional entre 1970 y 1988.
Destacado futbolista, está considerado como uno de los mejores delanteros del fútbol español, brillando especialmente en el remate de cabeza, y llegando a militar en el Real Madrid y en el equipo nacional. Su apodo le vino de su lugar de nacimiento.
Comenzó en el Satélite, equipo de Barreda, con el que llegó a jugar en tercera división. Tras un breve paso por el Racing de Santander, en la temporada 1970-1971, fichó por el Real Madrid a la temporada siguiente cumplidos los 19 años de edad. Permanecería en este equipo hasta su retirada en 1988.
Con el Real Madrid ganó nueve Ligas de España, cuatro Copas de España y dos Copas de la UEFA. Jugó 778 partidos con el primer equipo (un récord hasta que Manuel Sanchís le sobrepasó en la temporada 1997-1998) durante los cuales anotó 352 goles.

Me hubiera gustado verle para poder hablar de él, aunque los comentarios que siempre me llegaron de que era un rematador nato. Un delantero de verdad... Pff Santillana... palabras mayores...
Destaca sobre todo la cantidad de partidos ke llego a jugar,las temporadas ke lo hizo y los goles.Algo casi impensable a dia de hoy

de santillada decir q siempre q un delantero del madrid o de españa faya un gol de cabeza se escucha: si estubiese santillana.... con eso se dice todo!!!

Tege lo ke decias antes,la historia de Santillana pasa por el Madrid y la selección,jugó poco en el Racing,y lo ficharon muy joven,pero vamos ke yo no lo vi jugar nunca,no fui consciente nunca de ello,me suena que le hicieron algun homenaje sobre el 93 o asi pero claro ya con sus kilos de mas,en directo yo nunca lo vi.
